Company Description
The Hoxton, Charlottenburg (Berlin) – Floor Manager (m/f/d)
We’re looking for a Floor Manager to bring good energy, confident leadership and a genuine love of hosting to The Hoxton, Charlottenburg. You’ll lead from the floor, help your team shine and make Charlotte’s a place our neighbours and hotel guests want to come back to.
Our first Hoxton in Germany opened in Berlin in May 2023 and is home to 234 bedrooms, welcoming public spaces and The Apartment, our meeting and events space on the 7th floor. At Charlotte’s, our lobby bar and dining space, familiar food with a Berlin and German accent meets good coffee, wine, cocktails and a relaxed neighbourhood feel.
Reporting to the Restaurant & Bar Manager, you’ll take charge of day-to-day floor operations at Charlotte’s, including the Lobby, and support breakfast, and occasionally meetings and events as required. You’ll bring the team, service and commercial details together, so every shift feels well run and every guest feels looked after.
More about us...
The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels, each in a neighborhood that we love. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: proving style doesn’t need to be sacrificed for good value and providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces.
Job Description
What you’ll do…
- Be out on the floor and lead by example. Create a fun, relaxed atmosphere, welcome familiar faces and first-timers, and keep your cool when the room fills up.
- Bring Charlotte’s to life throughout the day, from Breakfast, a coffee, a quick bite to aperitivo, dinner and one more drink. Make the space feel welcoming, lived-in and unmistakably Hox.
- Read the guest and help your team do the same. Know when someone needs a quick lunch, a little guidance or time to settle in. Be warm, knowledgeable and there when it matters.
- Own the flow of service: allocate sections, organise food running, manage reservations and walk-ins, and keep the floor, bar and kitchen talking to each other.
- Keep standards consistent from the first hello to the last goodbye, with prompt drinks, accurate orders, thoughtful check-backs and tables that are ready for the next guest.
- Lead clear daily briefings covering bookings, events, menu updates, dietary requirements, sales priorities and who’s doing what. Make sure every shift starts ready.
- Coach and develop the service team, help new starters find their feet and give useful feedback in the moment.
- Work closely with the Head Bartender, baristas and Culinary Head Chef to keep food and drinks moving together, share feedback and build product knowledge through regular tastings and training.
- Know the menu inside out, from Charlotte’s classics and sharing plates to wines, cocktails and barista coffee. Turn that knowledge into natural recommendations that suit the guest.
- Take ownership when something goes wrong. Listen, find a sensible solution within your authority, record the feedback and follow up so we learn from it.
- Keep opening, closing, cleanliness and side duties on track. Check the room’s lighting, music, furniture and presentation, and follow up on maintenance issues.
- Make food safety, allergen communication, responsible alcohol service and health and safety part of everyday service. Check dietary requests with the kitchen and never guess.
- Help bring local collaborations and Charlotte’s events to life. Share ideas that give our neighbours a reason to drop in and our guests a reason to stay.
Qualifications
What we are looking for…
- Experience as a Floor Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or Assistant Restaurant Manager in a busy restaurant, hotel bar or lifestyle hotel, with the confidence to lead a shift.
- A natural host who enjoys being with guests and can balance a relaxed atmosphere with attentive, well-organised service.
- Hands-on leadership skills: you can, run a briefing, coach a colleague and bring a team together on a busy night.
- A good understanding of food, wine, cocktails and coffee, and the curiosity to keep learning and share what you know.
- Confidence with POS systems, cash controls, stock counts and daily reporting, plus a practical understanding of sales and labour costs.
- Clear communication, so you can connect with our guests, neighbours and international team.
- Sound judgement with guest complaints and team challenges. You stay calm, take ownership and know when to ask for support.
- An understanding of food safety, allergens, responsible alcohol service and safe working practices.
- Flexibility to work early and late shifts, weekends and public holidays, and to support the wider F&B operation when needed.
- You’re looking for a place where you can be you. Personality, warmth and good ideas are welcome here.
- You’re not precious. We leave our egos at the door and help get things done.
- You’re up for trying new things and want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way.
