Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef de Partie to join our culinary team in Johannesburg South, South Africa.   • Manage and oversee your designated pastry station with full responsibility for quality, consistency, and efficiency • Prepare, craft, and plate desserts, cakes, and sweet pastries to exacting standards, demonstrating creativity and artistic flair • Work with high-quality, fresh ingredients, ensuring optimal ingredient selection, storage, and utilisation
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and plating • Ensure strict compliance with HACCP guidelines, food safety regulations, and hygiene standards at all times • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members, supporting colleagues and fostering a positive, inclusive kitchen environment
  • Manage time efficiently to meet service demands whilst maintaining quality and composure under pressure • Contribute innovative ideas and suggestions to enhance menu offerings and operational processes • Conduct regular station checks and maintain organised, clean, and safe working conditions • Support the Head Chef and senior culinary staff in achieving departmental goals and maintaining service excellence
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, demonstrating best practices and professional standards

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: • Completed formal training as a pastry chef or cook with a specialised focus on pâtisserie • Proven professional experience in pâtisserie, ideally within upscale hospitality, fine dining, or gastronomy establishments

  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and plating desserts, cakes, and sweet pastries to a high standard • Strong knowledge of HACCP compliance and food safety regulations • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision in all culinary work • Excellent people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Flexibility, resilience, and capability to perform effectively under pressure during service periods • Hands-on mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement • Strong organisational and time management skills **Desirable Qualifications:** • Creativity and genuine passion for sweet creations and innovative dessert design
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity within a kitchen environment • Knowledge of ingredient sourcing, quality assessment, and seasonal produce selection • Familiarity with contemporary plating techniques and food presentation trends • Additional culinary certifications or professional development in pastry arts • Experience working in a multicultural kitchen environment • Understanding of kitchen management systems and inventory control
