Job Description

The Night Auditor is responsible for supporting the overnight operations of the hotel, including Front Office, Portering, guest services and security. The role ensures the hotel runs smoothly overnight while providing friendly and professional service to guests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Complete the overnight Night Audit, including checking room rates, charges, revenues and balancing transactions.
  • Process cash, credit card and other financial transactions in line with hotel procedures.
  • Prepare daily reports, statistics and Accounts Receivable billings.
  • Operate the hotel PMS and complete required reports, system back-ups and end-of-day processes.
  • Assist with Front Office duties, including guest arrivals and departures, check-ins/check-outs and reservations.
  • Provide overnight guest services, including luggage assistance, wake-up calls, newspapers and room service.
  • Answer the telephone and ensure messages are accurately recorded and delivered promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of guest property and follow lost property procedures.
  • Maintain hotel public areas to a clean and presentable standard.
  • Support hotel security, including monitoring the building and ensuring hotel keys are secure.
  • Follow all emergency, fire and evacuation procedures.
  • Communicate important guest and operational information through the Front Office logbook.
  • In the absence of the Night Manager, take responsibility for the overnight team and operations.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell rooms and hotel facilities where appropriate.
  • Report any maintenance, health and safety issues, accidents or incidents.
  • Follow all hotel, Accor and health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend required training and meetings and contribute positively to the wider hotel team.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as required by Hotel Management.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in Front Office, Night Audit, Reception or a similar hotel role.
  • Previous experience working overnight or in a role requiring independent decision-making is preferred.
  • Experience with hotel PMS systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Good understanding of cash handling, financial transactions and basic reconciliation.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when completing reports and balancing accounts.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused when dealing with guests or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for overnight hotel operations.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Confidence assisting with guest enquiries, reservations and upselling.
  • Understanding of health & safety, emergency and security procedures.
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Ability to follow hotel policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements.

Desirable:

  • Previous Night Auditor or Night Manager experience.
  • Experience with Opera/PMS and night audit processes.
  • Hospitality or hotel management qualification.
  • First Aid or relevant emergency training.
