In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior chefs to prepare and cook continental cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and kitchen safety. - Prepare mise en place and organize workstations according to established kitchen procedures and standards
- Execute food preparation and cooking tasks following approved recipes and plating specifications with precision and consistency
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper cleaning and storage protocols
- Assist senior chefs in food preparation, cooking, and plating of continental dishes during service
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
- Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as needed to meet organizational standards
- Support inventory management by tracking ingredient usage and reporting stock levels to supervisors
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely service delivery
- Respond promptly to feedback from senior chefs and continuously improve cooking techniques and efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment throughout shifts
Qualifications
- Proven experience of 1-2 years working in a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of continental cuisine preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment and tools safely
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and sanitation protocols
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to maintaining quality and consistency
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with ability to take direction from senior staff
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Preferred: Culinary certification or formal training in food preparation
- Preferred: Experience with food costing and inventory management
