Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Controller to join our Finance team. The Cost Controller will be responsible for monitoring food, beverage, and operational costs, ensuring accurate inventory management, identifying variances, and supporting the hotel in maintaining strong cost control and profitability standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control operating costs across the hotel.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and ensure accurate recording of stock movements.
- Analyze daily and monthly cost reports and investigate significant variances.
- Review purchase prices, supplier invoices, receiving records, and goods received notes.
- Ensure proper inventory procedures are followed by all relevant departments.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and assist with financial reporting.
- Reconcile physical inventory with system records and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and identify slow-moving, excessive, or obsolete inventory.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Stores, Kitchen, Food & Beverage, and Finance teams to improve cost efficiency.
- Review menu costing and selling prices to support profitability.
- Ensure all cost-control procedures comply with hotel policies and financial standards.
- Assist with month-end closing activities and preparation of management reports.
- Identify opportunities to reduce wastage and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.
- Support internal and external audits when required.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of relevant cost control experience, preferably within a 4- or 5-star hotel.
- Good understanding of hotel accounting and purchasing procedures.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel/ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate variances effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a luxury or international hotel environment.
- Knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera, Micros, Materials Control, SunSystems, SAP, or similar systems.
- Professional accounting qualifications or relevant certifications are an advantage.
