At the Vermillion Room, our Baristas are responsible for delivering a refined, welcoming experience while also supporting cocktail service during breakfast and lunch. Known for its warm atmosphere and elevated offerings, the Vermillion Room is a place where attention to detail, consistency, and engaging service truly matter.
In this role, you will skillfully prepare specialty coffees, espresso-based beverages, and select cocktails, while engaging with guests, maintaining an immaculate service area, and anticipating guest needs. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that upholds Fairmont service standards and creates meaningful moments with every interaction.
Starting Rate: $18.75 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $20.12
Job Duties Include:
- Discuss food and beverage items, make suggestions and answer any guest inquiries
- Take guest orders accurately and process purchases using the POS system
- Operate coffee making equipment and present beverages according to recipe and presentation standards
- Prepare and present specialty coffees, espresso-based drinks, and cocktails for breakfast and lunch service according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Have full knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock levels of the barista and bar service areas
- Maintain accurate billing, cash handling and float procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have Pro-ServeCertification
- Previous Barista or Food& Beverage experience in a high-volume and fast paced environment required of at least one year.
- Previous point-of-sale system experience required
- Schedule flexibility, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift (8 hours)
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Variable temperature indoor + outdoor
- Working in a loud environment
