Job Description
The Carpenter is responsible for carrying out carpentry, joinery, furniture repair, and general maintenance works throughout the hotel. The role ensures that all guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, restaurants, and offices are maintained to the highest standards, contributing to a safe, functional, and luxurious environment for guests and Heartists.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all carpentry-related items throughout the hotel.
- Repair, install, and maintain wooden doors, frames, windows, cabinets, wardrobes, shelving, furniture, and fixtures.
- Carry out furniture restoration and minor upholstery repairs when required.
- Install, repair, and replace locks, hinges, door closers, handles, and other hardware.
- Repair damaged wooden structures, partitions, skirting, ceiling panels, and decorative finishes.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guest rooms and public areas.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain carpentry tools, equipment, and workshop in a clean and safe condition.
- Monitor material usage and report stock requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Coordinate with other Engineering team members during renovation projects and preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work complies with hotel standards, local regulations, and health and safety procedures.
- Minimize disruption to guests by carrying out work efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work orders using the hotel's maintenance management system.
- Support emergency maintenance requirements and perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Management team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Carpenter, preferably within a luxury hotel or hospitality environment.
- Good knowledge of woodworking techniques, building maintenance, and carpentry tools.
- Ability to read technical drawings and operate power and hand tools safely.
- Basic knowledge of painting, polishing, and finishing techniques is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English.
