Job Description

As a Director of Rooms, you will lead and oversee the hotel’s Rooms Division operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, high service standards, operational excellence, and strong financial performance while inspiring and developing our Heartists.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop the Rooms Division team to deliver exceptional guest service and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Relations, Concierge, Bell Desk, and other Rooms Division functions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all areas.
  • Maintain a strong operational presence throughout the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and high service standards.
  • Ensure all Rooms Division departments consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences in line with luxury hospitality and brand standards.
  • Monitor service quality, guest satisfaction, room readiness, productivity, occupancy, and overall Rooms Division performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize room revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and overall Rooms Division performance.
  • Take ownership of Rooms Division financial performance, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, payroll management, and achieving departmental targets.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management and Sales & Marketing to optimize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, room revenue, and overall hotel profitability.
  • Monitor labour costs, departmental expenses, productivity, room inventory, and operational resources to ensure effective cost management.
  • Ensure effective coordination between Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, Revenue Management, Engineering, and other departments to maximize room availability and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the complete guest journey from pre-arrival through departure, ensuring personalized, seamless, and memorable service at every touchpoint.
  • Personally oversee VIP arrivals, special occasions, guest requests, and high-profile guests, ensuring appropriate recognition and personalized service.
  • Handle guest feedback, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring effective resolution and maintaining guest loyalty.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and Rooms Division facilities to ensure cleanliness, presentation, maintenance, and brand compliance.
  • Ensure guest rooms are consistently maintained and presented according to luxury standards, with strong communication and coordination between Housekeeping and Front Office.
  • Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, satisfaction scores, and operational reports, identifying trends and implementing action plans to continuously improve performance.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, succession planning, and performance management of Heartists.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to enhance guest experience, service quality, operational efficiency, and financial results.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, security, fire safety, and other applicable hotel standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate closely with Food & Beverage, Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive, collaborative, and performance-driven working environment.
  • Act as a key member of the hotel leadership team, contributing to the overall strategic direction and business performance of the hotel.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Strong passion for luxury hospitality, guest engagement, and service excellence.
  • Minimum 8 years of Rooms Division management experience, including Front Office and/or Housekeeping leadership.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Director of Rooms, Executive Assistant Manager Rooms, or equivalent senior position.
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in the Middle East/GCC, preferably in Dubai or Doha.
  • Previous experience in a 5 star luxury hotel operation is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing multiple Rooms Division functions and high volume operations.
  • Hands on and operationally driven, with strong guest and floor presence.
  • Strong knowledge of P&L, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, productivity, occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of luxury hospitality and brand standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel PMS systems; Opera experience is an advantage.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
