Job Description
Pool Operation & Water Quality
• Perform daily inspection and operation of swimming pools, kids pools, water features, and associated plant rooms.
• Test and record pool water parameters including pH, free chlorine, combined chlorine, temperature, and other required parameters.
• Adjust chemical dosing to maintain water quality within approved operational and safety limits.
• Monitor water clarity, circulation, filtration, and pool balance throughout the shift.
• Maintain accurate daily pool water testing and chemical consumption records.
• Immediately report any unsafe water condition or abnormal reading and take corrective action as instructed.
Mechanical & Technical Maintenance
• Inspect, operate, and maintain pool circulation pumps, filtration systems, strainers, valves, heat exchangers, and dosing equipment.
• Carry out routine backwashing, filter cleaning, strainer cleaning, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Identify leaks, abnormal noise, vibration, pressure changes, flow problems, and equipment failures.
• Perform minor repairs and replacement of pool mechanical components where qualified and authorized.
• Support maintenance of pool heaters, chillers, UV systems, automatic dosing systems, and related equipment.
• Coordinate with Engineering supervisors for major repairs, spare parts, or specialist contractor requirements.
Chemical Handling & Safety
• Safely handle, store, and use swimming pool chemicals in accordance with SDS/MSDS requirements and hotel safety procedures.
• Use the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling chemicals and carrying out maintenance.
• Ensure chemical rooms and pool plant rooms are clean, organized, ventilated, secure, and free from unsafe conditions.
• Never mix incompatible chemicals and immediately report spills, leaks, or unsafe chemical conditions.
• Maintain proper labeling and storage of all pool treatment chemicals.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks according to the Engineering maintenance schedule and CMMS.
• Respond promptly to pool-related work orders and operational complaints.
• Record completed maintenance activities, defects, readings, and corrective actions.
• Assist in troubleshooting recurring pool water quality and equipment issues.
• Support shutdown, cleaning, repair, and reopening activities when required.
Guest & Operational Support
• Ensure pool systems are ready before daily operating hours.
• Coordinate with Recreation, Lifeguards, Housekeeping, and Engineering regarding pool conditions and maintenance requirements.
Qualifications
- Technical diploma or vocational qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Water Treatment, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Pool Technician, Water Treatment Technician, or similar maintenance role is preferred.
- Experience in hotels, resorts, waterparks, leisure facilities, or large swimming pool operations is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of swimming pool water chemistry, filtration, circulation, pumps, valves, and chemical dosing systems.
- Ability to understand basic technical manuals, equipment instructions, and safety procedures.
- Basic English communication skills; Arabic is an advantage.
