Job Description

Engineering Manager
As Engineering Manager at Fairmont Vancouver Airport, you will lead and support the Engineering team alongside the Director of Facilities.

What you will be doing:

  • Under guidance of the Director of Facilities, responsible to manage the assignment of projects to ensure talent to task within the team
  • Acts as ambassador and spokesperson to all vendors and contractors; responds to third-party and contractor concerns in a timely, consistent manner
  • Responsible for managing the operations, including emergency response in the absence of the Director of Facilities
  • Proactively scheduling preventative maintenance repairs with contractors and the Engineering team
  • Responsible for hotel communication regarding repairs and projects and how it may affect operations
  • Contribute to preparation of the annual maintenance budget and capital plan
  • Involved in the recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management processes for the Engineering department
  • Proactively builds and manages strong working relationships with other departments, contractors and partners
  • Contributes and monitors hotel and departmental goals
  • Actively participates in and co-chairs the Health and Safety committee
  • Promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues and contractors through in-depth knowledge of the hotel's crisis and emergency procedures
  • Complies with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts policies, procedures and code of ethics
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum 3 year administrative assistant experience in the hospitality industry and/or in an engineering environment.
  • Previous work experience on computers and experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively unsupervised and meet deadlines.
  • Strong business communication skills are necessary.
  • Team player with strong initiative, a calm demeanor and professional approach.
  • Previous payroll administration experience would be an asset
  • Previous background in an Engineering/trades environment and a strong understanding of the demands of a hotel environment would be an asset.
  • A post-secondary education in Hospitality Management would be an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes and fire and health department requirements are an asset.
  • Experience with purchase orders, payroll systems and scheduling employees.
