Job Description
Position Overview
The Hotel Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining the comfort, safety, and refined presentation of the property by ensuring that all facilities, equipment, and building systems operate at the highest level of reliability and quality. This position requires a hands-on, service-driven professional with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for guest satisfaction in a luxury environment
Responsibilities:
Engineering & Maintenance Operations:
• Perform routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance across guestrooms, public areas, restaurants, spa, and back-of-house facilities
• Respond promptly and professionally to work orders and guest maintenance requests
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and building systems
• Ensure all repairs meet Fairmont luxury brand standards
Preventive Maintenance & Asset Care:
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks per established schedules
• Conduct inspections to identify potential issues
• Document work completed in CMMS
Guest Experience Support:
• Provide courteous and discreet service when responding to guest concerns
• Follow Fairmont privacy and service etiquette standards
• Complete repairs efficiently with minimal guest disruption
Life Safety & Compliance:
• Support compliance with fire, life safety, and environmental standards
• Report safety hazards immediately
• Participate in drills and emergency response activities
Tools, Inventory & Materials:
• Properly use and maintain tools and equipment
• Assist with inventory management
• Anticipate materials and tools to meet operational needs in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Second Class Operating Engineer license, technical certifications or trade school training is preferred
- 2–5 years of hotel or facilities maintenance experience is required
- Luxury hotel experience preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems preferred
- Guest-centric and service-oriented
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
