Job Description

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen Server is responsible for delivering exceptional, personalized food and beverage service that exceeds guest expectations while creating memorable dining experiences reflective of the Fairmont luxury brand. This role greets guests with warmth and professionalism, possesses a thorough knowledge of the menu and beverage offerings, provides attentive and efficient service, accurately processes orders and payments, and ensures every interaction is welcoming, seamless, and genuine. OAK Long Bar + Kitchen Server works to maintain the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and hospitality while contributing to the overall success of OAK Long Bar + Kitchen.

 

Job Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

  • Provide warm, welcoming, and attentive service to every guest in accordance with Fairmont and OAK Long Bar + Kitchen service standards.
  • Greet guests promptly, present menus, explain daily specials, and make knowledgeable food and beverage recommendations.
  • Anticipate guest needs and personalize the dining experience to create memorable moments.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders and communicate them effectively to the kitchen and bar teams.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring presentation and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond professionally to requests or concerns.
  • Handle guest complaints with professionalism, resolving concerns promptly or escalating to management when appropriate.
  • Build rapport with returning guests and contribute to a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

Restaurant Operations

  • Prepare and maintain assigned stations before, during, and after service.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menus, ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, wine selections, cocktails, and promotions.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system and process cash, credit card, room charge, and other payment transactions.
  • Complete side work and opening/closing duties as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and work areas.
  • Support private dining and special events within the restaurant as needed.
  • Communicate effectively regarding guest requests, dietary restrictions, and service timing.
  • Assist fellow team members during high-volume periods to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Participate in daily line-ups, training sessions, and departmental meetings.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service guidelines and verify identification when required.
  • Maintain compliance with Fairmont, Accor, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Practice safe work habits and immediately report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and hotel information.

The hourly start rate is USD $12.25, with the opportunity to earn additional income through guest gratuities.

Qualifications

  • Previous serving experience in an upscale, luxury, or high-volume restaurant preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and classic cocktails.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Basic mathematical skills and cash-handling experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or obtain all required food handling and alcohol service certifications as required by state and local regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and climb stairs as needed.
  • Manual dexterity to carry trays, serve food and beverages, and operate POS equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
