Founded in 2008 by Serge Trigano and his sons Jérémie and Benjamin (co-founders of Club Med), Mama Shelter is a creator of living spaces and a daily director!

You’re the person who makes sure Mama has exactly what she needs, when she needs it — from guest supplies and housekeeping essentials to F&B products and everything in between. 📦✨

As our Purchasing Manager, you’ll keep the operation moving, balancing quality, availability and cost while building strong supplier relationships and making smart commercial decisions.

You don’t just buy things — you make sure Mama gets great value without compromising the experience.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

🛒 Purchasing Champion

• Lead the day-to-day purchasing function across the hotel.
• Source and purchase goods and services in line with operational requirements, quality standards and approved specifications.
• Ensure all purchases are made in accordance with company policies and procedures.

💰 Cost & Commercial Controller

• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and commercial agreements with suppliers.
• Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities to improve value and efficiency.
• Support budget management and ensure purchasing remains aligned with financial targets.

🤝 Supplier Relationship Builder

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance, quality, pricing, reliability and service levels.
• Source alternative suppliers where required to maintain competitiveness and business continuity.

📦 Inventory & Stock Expert

• Work closely with Finance, Stores, F&B, Housekeeping and other departments to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Monitor stock movement, consumption and purchasing patterns.
• Help minimise wastage, overstocking and unnecessary expenditure.

⚡ Operations Partner

• Ensure goods are ordered and delivered in line with operational requirements.
• Work closely with Stores and relevant departments to resolve delivery, quality or quantity discrepancies.
• Support the hotel in maintaining continuity of supply, particularly during busy periods and pre-opening.

📋 Systems, Compliance & Controls

• Ensure purchasing documentation, approvals and records are accurate and up to date.
• Maintain compliance with procurement policies, audit requirements and internal controls.
• Support regular supplier reviews, price comparisons and purchasing analysis.

🏗️ Pre-Opening Champion

• Support the pre-opening procurement plan, including OS&E, operational supplies, uniforms, amenities and other hotel requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Finance, Operations and suppliers to ensure purchasing timelines are aligned with the opening plan.

• You have solid purchasing/procurement experience within hospitality, ideally in a hotel environment.
• You understand the pace and complexity of hotel operations and know that timing matters.
• You’re commercially minded, organised and confident negotiating with suppliers.
• You have strong knowledge of purchasing systems, inventory controls and procurement processes.
• You’re comfortable managing multiple priorities and working with different departments.
• You have strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
• You communicate confidently and build effective supplier and internal relationships.
• You’re proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable challenging costs and finding better ways of working.

YOUR LITTLE EXTRAS 🎯

• Pre-opening experience? Big plus 🏗️✨
• Experience within a lifestyle, luxury or design-led hotel.
• Strong knowledge of local suppliers and the UAE hospitality market.
• Experience purchasing across both Rooms and F&B.
• You’re commercially sharp but know that relationships matter too.

WORK AUTHORISATION 🌍

• Applicants must already hold valid work rights/work authorisation for South Africa. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country where the role is based.
