Job Description
The Bar Supervisor / Senior Mixologist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar while delivering exceptional beverage experiences to guests. This role combines hands on mixology expertise with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring service excellence, beverage quality, operational efficiency and compliance with hotel standards. The successful candidate will lead the bar team by example, create innovative beverage offerings, maintain inventory and cost controls, and contribute to achieving departmental revenue and guest satisfaction targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Supervise the daily operations of the bar and ensure smooth service during all shifts.
- Ensure all beverage service standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor opening and closing procedures and ensure compliance with hotel policies.
- Support the Bar Manager in achieving departmental objectives and revenue goals.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization and presentation of the bar at all times.
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional and personalized guest service.
- Handle guest requests, concerns and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Build strong relationships with repeat and VIP guests.
- Ensure every guest receives high quality beverage service in line with brand standards.
Mixology & Beverage Development
- Design and develop signature cocktails and seasonal beverage menus.
- Maintain consistency in drink preparation, presentation and quality.
- Stay informed on current beverage trends and introduce innovative concepts.
- Possess expert knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Ensure proper preparation, pouring, mixing and garnishing techniques.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach and motivate bartenders and bar staff.
- Conduct regular training sessions on beverage knowledge, service techniques and brand standards.
- Lead daily shift briefings.
- Foster teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor beverage inventory and stock levels.
- Assist with purchasing, stock requisitions and monthly inventory.
- Control beverage costs, minimize wastage and ensure accurate product usage.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of all beverage products.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, HACCP,and responsible alcohol service regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for guests and colleagues.
- Follow hotel emergency procedures and health & safety policies.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Mixology or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a economy, luxury hotel, upscale restaurant or premium bar environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, beers and beverage trends.
- Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
