Job Description

We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Grand Del Mar, as our new Amaya Bartender.

See guests from start to finish through a five-star dining experience including all knowledge and service of food, wine and spirits.   

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include; although are not limited to: 

  • Display a congenial appearance and is well groomed at all times. 
  • Ensure all mise in place are setup and ready for service according to the Amaya SOP.  
  • Assist service colleagues in completing pre-shift mise in place including complete bar setup, juices and garnishes prepped, wines by the glass fully stocked, ice stocked for night's service and additional side duties as outlined in the pre-shift duties list.  
  • Assist guests in receiving a flawless dining experience, consistently providing exceptional food, superlative service, elegant decor and exquisite presentations.  
  • It is the Bartender's position to assist the guest’s in finding a comfortable seating area prior to sitting at their table, offer specialty cocktail and champagne service, describe and serve the menu available and escort guests and their beverages to assigned tables.  
  • The Bartender is also responsible for preparing cocktails for diners in the main dining room as well as any private functions.  
  • Their main job responsibilities are to prepare and expedite cocktails and spirits selections to the guests and front of house colleagues.    
  • Assist service colleagues in breakdown and cleanup of service areas; i.e. all ice burned and all glasses polished, by the glass selections replaced and stored, liquor locked and stored, all bar items placed in storage areas, service trays cleaned and stored, bar area neat and tidy for next day's service. 
  • Check customer identifications to confirm legal drinking age. 
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations. 

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in bar or high volume bar in a similar restaurant/bar environment. 
  • Bartenders should have an exemplary knowledge of spirits and wine as well as food and wine pairing.  
  • Food Handlers Card required. 
  • RBS Certification required. 
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. 
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.    
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Must possess basic math skills and the ability to use a calculator.    
  • Must possess basic computer skills.           
  • Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions. 
  • Knowledge of Restaurant operations, its services, and facilities.  
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by Restaurant environmental systems. 
  • High school or equivalent education required.

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to multi-task in a calm manner on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill daily tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity

Grooming:

  • All Colleagues must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Fairmont Grand Del Mar standards. A conservative, simple and elegant style is preferred.

Wage Information

The hourly rate for this position is $19.00
