Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel's procurement and purchasing operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of quality goods and services.  This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates the best value for the hotel and ensures all purchasing activities, comply with company policies, procurement procedures and operational standards while supporting the overall success of the hotel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all purchasing requirements of the Hotel ensuring the Purchasing Policy and Procedures for the Hotel is followed and adhered to.
  • Maintaining food purchasing specifications.  Conduct regular inspections of incoming goods for weight, quality and quantity, minimum and maximum stock levels, reordering size and delivery lead time etc.
  • Analyze market trends to anticipate likely price fluctuations, for the purpose of maintaining inventory either for long or short time periods.
  • Source and evaluate all aspects of food and beverage contracts/ tender with suppliers, thus, to be done in conjunction with Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Manager. 
  • Ensure all internal audit points are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all Halal certificates are obtained and updated accordingly.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of information regarding contracts and procedures.
  • Maintain company confidentiality, ensuring that business dealings within the organization are not discussed with outside parties.
  • Co-ordination of all aspects of the department's operation to ensure that the services of the department are delivered to guests or internal customers with the aim of exceeding guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with exposure to strategic sourcing and contract management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A team player with proactive, self-motivated, approachable and positive attitude.
