The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the hotel's maintenance and engineering team, ensuring all building systems, equipment, utilities, and facilities are maintained to the highest operational, safety, and luxury hospitality standards. The role oversees preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, project coordination, compliance, contractor management, and team performance while delivering an exceptional guest and colleague experience.

Job Description

 

  • Manage the daily operations of the Maintenance Department to ensure efficient, safe, and uninterrupted hotel operations.
  • Maintain hotel facilities in accordance with luxury brand standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations and coordinate immediate corrective action.
  • Manage and continuously improve the hotel's Preventative Maintenance (PM) programme.
  • Monitor daily consumption of electricity, water, gas, and other utilities.
  • Investigate abnormal utility consumption and implement corrective measures.
  • Recommend energy conservation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
  • Coordinate maintenance, renovation, landscaping, and capital improvement projects
  • Manage contractors and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections before approving completed work.
  • Assist with planning and execution of refurbishment and property improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in hotel engineering or facilities maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort.
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programmes and building management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, renovations, and capital projects.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and hotel regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and building system information.
  • Financial awareness with experience managing maintenance budgets and utility costs.
