Company Description
Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the hotel's finance function and partner with the Executive Leadership Team to drive business performance.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall financial management of the hotel, ensuring compliance with New Zealand legislation and owner reporting requirements while supporting operational excellence across the business.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager you will be responsible for:
Leading the Finance Department and overseeing all financial operations.
Preparing accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
Producing monthly management accounts and owner reports.
Ensuring compliance with New Zealand taxation, financial reporting and statutory obligations.
Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight and banking functions.
Monitoring internal controls and implementing continuous process improvements.
Partnering with department leaders to improve financial performance and cost control.
Managing annual budgets, external audits and capital expenditure.
Building, mentoring and developing the Finance team.
Supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis and commercial insights.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role you will have:
A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
CA /CPA professional qualification (or equivalent).
At least five years’ experience in Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance role in hospitality will be advantageous.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and management accounting.
Sound understanding of New Zealand financial, taxation and employment legislation.
Experience using hotel financial systems, ERP platforms and MS Excel (experience with SUN Systems, Opera PMS, Purchase Plus or similar is advantageous).
Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to lead teams and influence operational decision-making.
