Job Description
Key Duties:
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of high-quality food in accordance with recipes, menu specifications and food safety standards.
- Learn and develop practical cookery skills under the guidance of experienced chefs across a variety of kitchen sections.
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, adhering to all food safety, HACCP and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with receiving, storing and rotating stock to minimise waste and maintain product freshness.
- Support the kitchen team during service by ensuring food is prepared and presented efficiently and to a high standard.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly while following all workplace procedures and instructions.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to completing a recognised commercial cookery apprenticeship while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience:
- A genuine passion for food, cooking and developing a career in the hospitality industry.
- Enrolled in, or willing to undertake, a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent apprenticeship qualification).
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions and accept feedback.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
