Job Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented and organized Commis - I (Chinese) to join our culinary team in Gurugram, India. In this entry-level chef position, you will work under the guidance of senior chefs to prepare authentic Chinese cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment while contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
- Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards
- Assist in food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and organizing ingredients
- Maintain proper food safety and hygiene protocols in all kitchen operations
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including woks, steamers, and other specialized Chinese cooking tools
- Support senior chefs in executing daily meal service with precision and attention to detail
- Organize and maintain mise en place (preparation of ingredients) for assigned stations
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely food preparation
- Monitor inventory levels and report on ingredient usage as directed
- Follow all plating and presentation standards to ensure consistency and quality
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when required
- Maintain a clean and organized work station throughout service
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Chinese cooking techniques and methods
- Strong knowledge of Chinese cuisine ingredients, flavor profiles, and regional specialties
- Demonstrated knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards and regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and cooking instructions with precision
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina to work in a demanding kitchen environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Preferred: Prior experience working in a professional kitchen or restaurant setting
- Preferred: Familiarity with multiple Chinese regional cuisines
- Preferred: Basic English communication skills for effective team collaboration
Additional Information

Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
