Job Description
We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Security Officer. Reporting to the Director, Security, Loss & Prevention, the Security Officer is responsible for protecting the safety and security of Fairmont Southampton’s guests, employees, and property. This role involves monitoring the premises, responding to incidents, enforcing hotel policies, and providing professional, guest‑focused service to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
What you will be doing:
Security & Safety Operations
- Patrol the hotel premises both interior and exterior to ensure guests, colleagues, and assets are secure at all times.
- Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and prevent security breaches.
- Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents such as theft, vandalism, disturbances, or emergencies.
- Act as part of the Emergency Response Team, supporting responses to fire alarms, medical emergencies, safety concerns, and evacuations.
- Enforce hotel policies, access control procedures, and safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
Guest Service & Support
- Assist guests with directions, inquiries, and requests in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Provide information about hotel facilities, services, and safety procedures when appropriate.
- Maintain a visible, approachable presence to support guests’ sense of security and comfort.
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation as required.
- Report and investigate violations of hotel policies, accidents, fire hazards, or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with other hotel departments and external emergency services when necessary.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all applicable safety, health, and fire prevention procedures.
- Assist in maintaining key control and access logs, securing restricted areas, and supporting loss prevention efforts.
- Participate in ongoing training related to safety, security protocols, and emergency response.
Qualifications

Experience
- Minimum of 1+ year of experience in a security or related safety role; experience in hospitality or hotel security is an asset.
- Experience in patrol duties, CCTV monitoring, incident response, or emergency procedures is advantageous.
Education & Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, or Basic Fire Safety is desirable.
- Valid security license/certification as required by local laws and regulations may be required.
Competencies, Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of security principles, safety practices, and emergency response techniques.
- Excellent observation, surveillance, and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
