Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Spa & Wellness Manager to support the pre-opening of the Spa & Wellness division at Sofitel Ipanema, including spa implementation, operational setup, and process structuring, in preparation for full operations.

  • Adhere to Spa Policies and Standard Operating Procedures at all times;
  • Act as a Wellness Ambassador for the hotel, representing the brand values and Accor standards with colleagues, guests, and external stakeholders while maintaining a professional appearance;
  • Promote colleague wellness initiatives in partnership with People & Culture teams;
  • Manage the daily operations, efficiency, and overall performance of the spa and wellness facilities;
  • Maintain effective communication and colleague welfare practices for both existing and new team members;
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to promote spa, wellness, and well-being offerings within the hotel and local market;
  • Maintain strong knowledge of competitors, including products, pricing, promotions, and sales strategies;
  • Support all additional operational responsibilities assigned by hotel management while protecting hotel assets and property.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and profitability management for wellness departments;
  • Monitor operational costs, payroll approvals, inventory systems, productivity reports, and purchase requisitions;
  • Review invoices, control labor and supply costs, and ensure revenue targets are achieved;
  • Coordinate maintenance and service agreements for spa equipment in partnership with Engineering teams;
  • Prepare and submit operational and performance reports to hotel and corporate teams.

Strategy, Marketing & Revenue Management

  • Lead the implementation of annual wellness and marketing strategies, including social media, digital campaigns, events, and retreats;
  • Develop pricing structures for treatments and retail products according to market conditions and hotel revenue strategies;
  • Ensure all marketing materials and communications follow brand guidelines;
  • Establish and monitor KPI goals aligned with revenue expectations and revenue management practices;
  • Participate in weekly revenue meetings to identify new business opportunities within the hotel and local community.

Guest Experience & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure guest preferences and special requests are accommodated to the highest standards possible;
  • Conduct regular facility and treatment audits to maintain brand standards and service quality;
  • Oversee daily operations and support teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences;
  • Ensure all wellness facilities maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational excellence.

Team Leadership

  • Lead regular departmental communication, team meetings, recognition, and motivation initiatives;
  • Support onboarding, cross-training, recruitment, development, and performance management for wellness teams;
  • Attend daily hotel briefings and maintain strong collaboration with all hotel departments;
  • Ensure compliance with the Accor Code of Ethics and company policies.

Health, Hygiene & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures across wellness facilities;
  • Identify and address operational hazards and maintenance issues immediately;
  • Maintain a safe environment for guests, colleagues, and hotel property;
  • Handle emergency situations with professionalism, urgency, and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree completed is required;
  • Fluency in English and French is required;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or supervisory position in a spa, leisure, wellness, or related field;
  • Previous experience in spa therapy, recreation, or fitness is recommended;
  • Previous experience in luxury hotels or pre-opening, with a strong background in financial budgeting and forecasting;
  • Acting as an ambassador for well-being, with a personal interest and lifestyle approach to wellness.
