Job Description

Join the prestigious Sofitel Brisbane Central, where elegance and excellence define every experience. We are seeking an experienced Conference and Events Operations Team Leader to join our team in Brisbane. In this role, you will lead a dynamic operations team in the planning and execution of high-profile conferences and events, ensuring each experience is delivered with precision and sophistication. You will champion operational excellence, uphold the highest standards of service, and inspire your team to create memorable moments that reflect the refined spirit of Sofitel.

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of conference and events operations, from initial concept through post-event evaluation
  • Manage event budgets, track expenses, and optimise resource allocation to ensure cost-effectiveness and profitability
  • Develop and implement operational processes and procedures that enhance efficiency and consistency across all events
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to secure services, negotiate contracts, and maintain quality standards
  • Create and maintain detailed project timelines and ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule
  • Monitor compliance with organisational policies, industry regulations, and health and safety requirements
  • Analyse event performance metrics and prepare comprehensive reports with actionable insights for continuous improvement
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction
  • Identify operational challenges and implement innovative solutions to enhance event experiences

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in events management, conference operations, or related field
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification 
  • Proven experience leading and managing operations teams of varying sizes
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Comprehensive knowledge of event planning, logistics, and coordination best practices
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial planning
  • Excellent vendor and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Advanced organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence and motivate others
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work effectively under pressure
  • Proficiency with event management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with conference industry standards and best practices (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Australian event market and Brisbane-based venue networks (preferred)
  • Certification in event management or operations management (preferred)
