Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on and motivated Steward Supervisor to lead our stewarding operations and support the smooth running of our kitchens, in a part-time capacity.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Chief Steward and Executive Chef, the Steward Supervisor ensures all kitchen and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency. You will supervise a team of kitchen stewards, coordinate daily cleaning operations, and play a key part in maintaining food safety compliance and operational flow.

  • Supervise and coordinate the stewarding team to ensure safe and efficient operations

  • Oversee cleaning and sanitisation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and service areas

  • Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing, storage, and dock areas, ensuring HACCP and food safety compliance

  • Operate forklifts and assist with receiving and storing deliveries (requires valid forklift licence)

  • Train, mentor, and coach stewards on safe handling, chemical use, and hygiene procedures

  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to monitor cleanliness, maintenance, and stock levels

  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure cost-effective use of resources

  • Collaborate with the culinary and service teams to support smooth kitchen operations

Qualifications

About You

  • Previous experience in a similar supervisory/team leader capacity (hotel or similar environment preferred)

  • Current Forklift License (LF) would be highly regarded

  • Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive

  • Flexible availability, including weekends, public holidays, and early/late shifts

  • A team player who leads by example and takes pride in maintaining high standards
