Mercure Penrith is looking for a motivated and reliable part-time Handyperson to join our Engineering team! In this role, you will help maintain the hotel's facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our guests and our team members.

Job Description

To be successful, the role requires flexibility to work 2-4 days per week from 8:00am – 4:30pm including some weekend days and occasional public holidays.

As a Maintenance Handyperson, you will be responsible for:

  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, painting, HVAC, and general upkeep of hotel facilities.
  • Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and service areas are in excellent working order.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel equipment, machinery, and systems to identify potential issues.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and requests replacements as necessary.
  • Assist housekeeping with delivery and removal of rollaway beds and cots to guest rooms and splitting of King Beds into two single beds.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with hotel staff to address urgent maintenance concerns.
  • Use HubOS to report maintenance tasks and complete tasks.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in hotels is preferred.
  • Self-motivated person who takes a proactive approach to work and is punctual and reliable.
  • Experience in operating a variety of equipment, including small hand tools.
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Ability to swiftly identify and evaluate day to day issues for rectification
  • Capacity to work unsupervised
  • Must be able to lift and push/pull up to 20kg.
  • Professional presentation standards
  • Ability to accommodate flexibility with shifts.
