Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef specializing in South American cuisine to join our culinary team in Miri, Malaysia. As the Chef of South American Cuisine, you will be responsible for creating authentic and innovative dishes that showcase the rich flavors and traditions of South America while adapting to local tastes and preferences.
- Develop and execute a diverse menu of South American dishes, incorporating both traditional and contemporary culinary techniques
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on South American cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles
- Collaborate with the management team to plan and execute special events and promotions featuring South American cuisine
- Manage inventory, food costs, and kitchen budgets to maintain profitability
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment
- Stay updated on culinary trends and innovations in South American cuisine to continually enhance the menu offerings
- Work closely with local suppliers to source authentic ingredients and support sustainable practices
Qualifications
- Culinary Diploma or Degree from a recognized institution
- Experienced as a chef specializing in South American cuisine
- Proven track record in high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen environments
- In-depth knowledge of South American ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques
- Strong skills in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
- Excellent kitchen management and inventory control abilities
- Up-to-date food safety certification and thorough understanding of hygiene standards
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate kitchen staff
- Creativity and passion for developing innovative South American dishes
- Adaptability to work with local ingredients and cater to Malaysian taste preferences
