Job Description

As our Recreation Manager, you will take care of the little things and big things at the beach and pools: ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for Colleagues and guests, ensuring a seamless daily operation and overseeing the growth and development of the department Colleagues.

Salary Range: $71,000 - $76,000

What you will be doing:

  • Assist & ensure seamless daily operations of beach and pool areas with an emphasis on luxury service standards
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings
  • Assist the Director of Recreation with special projects and hotel activities
  • Work closely with the departmental leadership and staff to provide support and direction.
  • Take ownership for guest’s cabana, reservations and special requests.  Work closely with the concierge and activities agents.
  • Motivate, lead, coach and monitor the performance levels of all team members.
  • Manage labor and payroll by creating weekly schedules in compliance with labor management guidelines and updating time cards as needed.
  • Complete colleague performance reviews and discussions
  • Record & control inventory, including ordering of department’s operating equipment including chairs, tables, umbrellas, etc.
  • Supervise, coordinate and direct prompt, efficient and courteous service in & around department’s areas.   Assign and control side duties in a fair and reasonable manner.
  • Ensure the delivery of luxury service by maintaining high staff morale and team spirit while maximizing profit potential.
  • Establish and maintain effective colleague relations, watch proper staffing levels and labor hours.
  • Maintain atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to our discerning guests
  • Focus attention on problem resolution and guest satisfaction with beach and pool experience, including activities vendors.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety awareness as well as to have a complete understanding of the emergency procedures

    Qualifications

    Your experience and skills include:

    • Minimum 1 year work experience in a luxury resort environment
    • Minimum 1 year leadership experience required, preferably in a luxury resort environment
    • Pool/Recreation experience in luxury environment is an asset.
    • Retail and customer service experience is an asset.
    • Experience with Ocean Safety & DLNR Policies and Procedures is an asset
    • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
    • Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
    • Must be service oriented and capable of communicating effectively with persons involved in all levels of authority, both internally and externally.

    Licenses or Certificates          

    • CPR & First Aid Certification
    • TB Clearance
    • Maui County Liquor Card
    • Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification
