Originally built in 1888, Hotel Woolstore 1888 is the fourth oldest among the 21 remaining wool stores in Sydney. This five-level sandstone and brick building has been beautifully transformed into a luxurious hotel, featuring 90 meticulously crafted guestrooms, a multi-award-winning neighbourhood restaurant and bar, and a variety of versatile spaces for meetings and events.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Assistant Manager or Duty Manager to join our front office leadership team. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, guide and support team members, and set the benchmark for exceptional hospitality. You will manage guest inquiries and feedback, encourage open communication, and cultivate a positive work environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily hotel operations and act as the shift lead.
  • Train and support team members, fostering a culture of excellent hospitality.
  • Manage guest inquiries and feedback, ensuring top-tier guest recovery.
  • Promote open communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Inspire and motivate the team, promoting a positive and safe work environment.
  • Assist with revenue optimization, including preparing team rosters.
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of the Front Office Team.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a hotel – a strong focus and passion for hotel operations
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all types of guests and of team members 
  • Confident and articulate communicator, negotiator, and relationship builder
  • Flexible and able to embrace and respond effectively to change
  • Available to work within a rotating roster, including weekends, holidays and nights
