Job Description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Fairmont St Andrews for a PGA Trainee Professional! 

Working within the golf operations team and golf shop to deliver the day to day golf operation to our members and guests, we are looking for a an individual who is passionate about all things Golf.

A wee bit more about what you'd be doing: 

  • To assist all members, guests, and visitors through their golf experience, from arrival to departure.
  • To ensure high standards are kept on a consistent basis throughout the Bag Drop, Clubhouse, Cart Staging Area, Range & Practice Facilities, the Halfway House, and Golf Course. Following established opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and well-stocked golf shop. 
  • Assists shop team and Golf Operations Manager with procurement and shop assistants with merchandising and sales.
  • Prepares and assists with golf outings and groups including coordinating scorecards, cart labels, rules sheets, score sheets, format sheets, gifts, pairing sheets and hole assignments.
  • Monitors all members’ scores, reports handicapping to Scottish Golf.
  • Assists in the creation of lesson plans and may assist in providing both individual and group instruction.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-in, and receives payments from members and guests.  Resolves challenges.
  • Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Attends associate training sessions and meetings.
  • Takes golf reservations for all guests, using Fairmont values, promises, and service standards. 
  • Assists in the end of month stock takes.
  • Liaise with both golf course Green Keepers to insure they are aware of all play and issues related to their requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a simular role is preffered
  • A people person with knowledge of Golf
  • Must be elidgble to live and work in the UK 

This is a Full-Time, permanent position which will be cross-functional depending on level of business within the areas of the golf department ranging from being based in the Golf Professional shop & outside services around the clubhouse area. Work also may be carried out within the hotel retail shop.
