Job Description

Engineering Manager (3-month contract)

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to coach and support our hotel maintenance team on a temporary basis, starting immediately.

Competitive Salary:

$75,000 - $80,000 based on previous experience and education.

Job Duties Include:

  • Coach, support and mentor the Engineering team at Fairmont Chateau Whistler, focusing on employee engagement
  • Coordinating the Preventive Maintenance program for guestrooms (ROMA), public areas, staff areas, safety systems, food and beverage, banquets and common areas.
  • In charge of organizing mechanical aspects of the building (guiding, organizing and assisting).
  • Work alongside the appointed Chief Engineer to improve all energy management and maintenance aspects of the Hotel
  • Manage all work orders through the implementation of the Alice System, including management of colleague productivity through internal work order requests/tickets
  • Manage recruitment, scheduling and payroll for the Engineering team
  • Mange the ordering of all supplies and tools for both the daily operation and on-going projects
  • Work alongside the Director, Engineering in planning and implementing capital projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related maintenance/engineering field
  • 4th class power engineers certificate is preferred
  • Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department requirements
  • Knowledge of energy management systems
  • Pool operator’s certificate and experience in pool maintenance and pool chemistry
  • Experience with managing expenses, purchase orders, payroll systems and scheduling employees
