Job Description

As Chief Engineer, you and your team form the beating technical heart of the hotel, taking care of our hotel like no other—a great responsibility! This means that with your technical insight, you can easily fix malfunctions, perform repairs on equipment, installations, facilities, plumbing, and lighting. Complex tasks requiring extensive technical knowledge, expertise, and certification are outsourced (based on contracts established by our Procurement department) and coordinated by you to ensure the best possible outcome. It goes without saying that cost and quality play a role in this.

Your tasks include but are not limited to:

  • You and your team are responsible for quickly and efficiently solving problems and malfunctions, following up on ad-hoc complaints, and performing preventive technical expert work within the hotel.
  • Together with your team, you carry out repairs and maintenance work. This includes equipment, plumbing, fittings, lighting, and installations.
  • Ensuring safety and fire safety in the hotel is a must, and you take ownership of engaging external companies to fix malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Performing periodic checks, maintenance, and cleaning of kitchen installations and equipment.
  • Taking responsibility for your team of technical service employees who perform all technical work and maintenance within the hotel.
  • You are part of the Management Team and report to the Operations Manager.
  • Ultimately responsible for legionella management and long-term planning regarding all installations and major maintenance of all rooms and equipment.
  • Coordinating everything related to emergency response, such as organizing and conducting training, drills, and evaluations.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You think it’s great to work in the flagship Novotel of the BeNeLux, and the following profile suits you:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry.
  • You have an MBO (secondary vocational education) working and thinking level.
  • You can work well independently.
  • An electrical engineering background is a plus.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch and English languages.
  • Solution-oriented.
  • Flexible attitude.
