Job Description
THE POSITION
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations will overlook the Hotel’s operations including Front Office & Guest Relations, Food & Beverage, Culinary & Stewarding, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security as well as Spa & Recreation. They will maintain a consistent presence on the floor and will have a sharp eye for details. They will ensure that the strategy and vision is set for all departments, ensuring the maximization of revenue yield and capture, oversee the financial aspects of the above-mentioned operations, optimizing profits and revenue while ensuring the highest level of service quality is provided to Hotel guests.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set, plan and direct the operations and departments to achieve agreed goals of revenue, gross operating profit, competitive RevPar Index, Guest Satisfaction, Brand Consistency and Colleague Engagement.
- Monitoring the activities and trends of the Competitive set and keep up to date with international trends in order to ensure the competitive advantage of the hotel
- To conduct daily briefings in the absence of the General Manager to ensure that all departments receive updated information and to attend all other meetings as required by the General Manager
- Providing creative ideas to project and enhance the image of the hotel;
- Monitoring the brand standards in all areas and ensuring that Department Heads and leaders take corrective actions as necessary
- Ensuring that guests in the hotel are receiving the best possible service available in order to make continuous improvement
- Support the hotel’s annual budgeting process and adhere to the Accor & Ennismore established guidelines.
- Assist in managing the operations and the hotel’s budget as well as ensuring that expenses incurred are within budget and in line with the Accor & Ennismore established guidelines.
- Lead and guide the Hotel operations team teams in driving the Hotel strategies to achieve its Key Performance indicators (KPI’s) and goals
- Liaising with the General Manager and Director of People & Culture in matters relating to recruitment and disciplinary procedures
- Working with the People & Culture Department to ensure that the right candidates are selected from the market for key positions
- Follow Accor & Ennismore protocol in approving expenses, and obtaining approvals from the appropriate stakeholders for items which require approval at this level before implementation.
- Help to ensure all Marketing, Digital and PR Communications are following Hyde Brand Standards and Marketing guidelines and are relevant to the market, and thought through as to bring value to the property and services.
- Support with recruitment, appointment and promotion of team members
- Control Payroll and Business Expenses of all departments reporting to them
- To oversee the that all guest rooms, public & back of the house areas including kitchen areas are well maintained and cleaned
- Ensure that maximum departmental profit is achieved
- Ensure that operating costs are controlled
- Conducting performance appraisals of Department Heads reporting into them
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Solid business / financial acumen with good understanding of lifestyle and/or luxury hotel operations
- Act as a role model in delivering lifestyle service
- Lead by example in building strong employee engagement
- Proven track record in leading a diverse culture of leaders and employees effectively
- Good communicator with fluency in English. Ability to communicate in Arabic is desirable

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree in Hotel Management
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years in lifestyle / luxury hotel management experience with strong Rooms and / or F&B background
- Experience in a hotel leadership role in the UAE is a must
