Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director, Communications & Fund Development, the Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for the development, execution, and expansion of Abode Communities’ corporate and foundation fundraising activities in support of the organization’s affordable housing and social services programs. The Institutional Giving Manager is an integral, collaborative role, supporting Abode Communities’ culture of philanthropy, all the while elevating the organization’s capacity to increasingly deliver its impact. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the fund development cycle from prospecting and building pipeline to cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship;
  • Collaborate with key departments to prospect institutional giving opportunities including aligning current giving trends and designing cultivation strategies to secure philanthropic funding from corporate and private institutions;
  • Prepare letters of intent, grant applications, and grant proposals to increase general operating, program, capital, and project-specific philanthropic support from foundations, corporations, and government agencies;
  • Maintain grant reporting schedule and collaborate with various departments to develop timely grant reports;
  • Administrate grant activities: track funding opportunities; develop activity reports; maintain grants calendar, grants database, and digital records; process acknowledgements; and report revenue;  
  • Develop, implement, and grow the organization’s corporate giving program, including event sponsorship opportunities for milestone anniversary events, annual fundraising events, and project-based events such as grand opening and groundbreakings;
  • Collaborate with staff to identify, secure, and streamline in-kind donations; 
  • Strategize and develop stewardship plan for institutional donors; and
  • Maintain adequate communication and production schedules to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree 
  • Five+ years progressive fundraising experience in grantmaking and/or corporate and institutional giving
  • Understanding of Los Angeles’ philanthropic environment 
  • Knowledge of MS Office 
  • Knowledge of Neon CRM, Preferred
  • Desire to contribute to improving economically diverse communities in Los Angeles
  • Ability to connect audiences to impact and work through compelling storytelling
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in deadline-driven environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of individuals
  • Flexible, solution-based approach

This is a full-time exempt position.
