Campus Facilities is devoted to the coordination of space, infrastructure, people and the organization. The mechanical technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, and repair according to safety, productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives. Our technicians are key members of our team enhancing the value and usefulness of our facilities and equipment.
Job Description
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on Air Handler Units, Pumps, VFDs, Split Systems Data room units, Cooling Towers, Food Service, Controls, VAV’s, Boilers, Chillers, Plumbing etc. for commercial and industrial buildings
- Ability to think analytically, work independently or with others to set-up, install, troubleshoot, test, calibrate, and to inspect, maintain, modify, or repair equipment to ensure operational performance and operational efficiency and safety
- Detect faulty operations, defective materials or equipment and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Position required to be available for regular rotations on our on-call schedule; May be called to respond for emergency or overtime work on the weekend, holidays and after-hours as required
- Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (including OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment
- Requires working in diverse conditions including but limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage)
Qualifications
- Vocational certificate or degree strongly preferred (HVAC/R, Plumbing, Electrical) or 3+ years of relevant professional commercial experience
- EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification a plus
- Ability to test and repair various systems and equipment using meters, schematics, drawings and manuals
- Possess knowledge to safely and effectively use maintenance tools and equipment
- Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced, structured environment
- Understand the importance of a good attitude and “team spirit” along with working well with other staff members
- Understand the sequence of operations of equipment and systems
- Awareness to work safely under general supervision, follow written procedures and verbal instructions, exercise good judgement, and manage time to complete assignments
- Must be able to bend, reach, sit, stop, balance, climb, stand for long periods of time, walk far distances, work with arms extended over the shoulders, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Basic computer skills in the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, Project), Outlook and general software navigation
