Job Description 

 The A&F Co. Baby & Toddler Buyer will work as part of our global team to grow the Baby & Toddler business through the development of a Kids licensing strategy with Haddad. This role will drive assortment architecture and product selection, partnering with the Global Home Office product teams to ensure our product is brand right and globally relevant. Success in this role will be highly dependent upon building and maintaining exceptional relationships with internal and external teams across regions.

This job is located in Columbus, Ohio at the Global Home Office.

 

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Engage in foundational work to understand the Kids brand position and Baby & Toddler customer. Leverage Baby & Toddler market knowledge to provide sales forecast guidance and drive forecast accuracy.
  • Create high-level strategies for the Baby & Toddler segments of the business, ensuring they are consistent with overall Kids brand identity.
  • Following each season, execute a detailed hindsight / strategic line review process to inform future strategy and identify line list needs.
  • Create & establish product architecture to execute key strategies.
  • Be the expert in current selling analysis and historical selling knowledge. Present weekly selling / business updates, evaluating performance & proposing tactical actions.
  • Leverage financial and strategic capabilities to influence promotions, pricing, product placement, etc. as well as product development and assortments.
  • Intimately understand customer preferences and interests by observing parent shopping patterns, regularly shopping competitors / aspirational brands and monitoring media platforms.
  • Share updates on trend and customer engagement with key partners across the organization.
  • Participate in central assortment reviews on a seasonal basis, contributing ideas, identifying top items, and preparing for seasonal buys.
  • Participate in monthly MPC meetings to reconcile current performance with future merchandise plans, identifying upside and downside strategies 
  • Connect with Site Merchandising, PCM and Marketing teams to coordinate go live, item audit & maintenance and strategies for owned and operated site

 

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • Bachelor’s or undergraduate University degree equivalent
  • 5+ Merchandising or Buying experience, preferably in apparel
  • Proven ability to thrive in team-based settings
  • Passion for the buying role, fashion retail, customer research, and the family of brands
  • Desire to take ownership for a portion of a multi-billion-dollar business
  • An acute eye for product and trend
  • A deep understanding of sales analysis and financial metrics that relate to your business
  • A high comfort-level with analytical sales tools (i.e. Tableau) and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate confidently to leadership
  • A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional partners to achieve the vision of the brand
  • Willingness to travel as needed by the department
