Senior Manager, Portfolio Leader Technology Services (Hybrid)

The Senior Manager of the Technology Services Portfolio is part of the Continuous Delivery team within the Digital & Tech (D&T) Department at A&F. The Technology Services portfolio supports strategies tied to Platform, Endpoint and Network infrastructure (both corporate and stores), Information Security, and collaboration applications; the foundation on which A&Fs technology stands on. The Sr Manager will lead successful planning and delivery within their Tech Services portfolio, while supporting transformational projects across all D&T.

This position is a hybrid role with flexible on-site requirements at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Partner with Leaders of Technology Services within the D&T org and the roadmap working team to sequence and intake the prioritized initiatives:
    • Partner with portfolio planning and architecture to define, sequence, and estimate new projects
    • Be a strategic thought partner in how to ensure the work is effectively laid out, supporting and leading concepting of initiatives as required to better understand the scope or work. 
    • Become intimate with the holistic D&T roadmap and assist in identifying where other Portfolios will drive work to Tech Services, defining cross teamwork and dependencies.
  • Plan, manage and deliver your portfolio of projects by achieving expected outcomes in support of A&F strategic roadmap 
    • Develop portfolio level plans that are sequenced to maximize value, dependencies, and capacity
    • Ensure traceability from corporate strategy, corporate playbook, and business case to project plan and execution
    • Proactively communicate major initiative plans, schedules and dependencies to all levels of stakeholders
    • Drive timely decision-making to drive alignment and remove blockers
    • Escalate issues and risks with a high sense of urgency; develop and track progress against mitigation plans
    • Build resource plans to ensure critical cross-functional roles are filled; Technical, Functional, OCM, and Delivery
    • Coordinate with vendor implementation partners and managed services, ensuring continuity between vendor project plans and the overall program
    • Prepare the Organization for change by partnering with the OCM lead and ensuring effective communication strategy and training needs are accounted for.
  • Set up project teams for success by developing our team members and continuously improving the way we work: 
    • Establish staffing plans that optimize the team’s capacity and ability to execute with high quality
    • Develop, mentor, coach direct and indirect employees to support your portfolio’s success
    • Measure performance and provide frequent coaching to uplift skills
    • Team Up with other Portfolio leaders, BA, and Scrum Managers (delivery community) to adapt and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Team Up with cross functional partners – Technology and Business Teams - for success.
    • Ensure quality standards are defined, inspected, and measured
    • Creatively problem solve capacity and budget constraints
    • Provide accountable for financial management and reporting for projects within the portfolio. 
  • Be accountable for the portfolio’s success by measuring and monitoring progress against objectives, time, and budget while providing transparent communication to leadership on status, issues, risks, and required decisions across the portfolio 
    • Align the team to the objectives and goals for each initiative. Convey the need to review how work ladders up to the goals. (Repetition is recognition)
    • Relentlessly manage stakeholder expectations through transparent communications and a deep understanding of business impacts, bridging the “technology gap” with stakeholders across the organization
    • Define, communicate, and manage dependencies across projects
    • Support Portfolios success by proactively looking forward for risks / issues to assist in mitigating
    • Be an escalation point for all risk and issue mitigation

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • B.A./B.S. in Business, Engineering, or technical area required   
  • 7-10+ years of Technology related experience in multiple of the following areas:
    • Cloud Platforms
    • Networking (retail stores, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity)
    • Tech Hardware (endpoints, mobile devices, print, retail store devices)
    • Tech Operations (Service Desks, international support, incident management and communications)
    • Information Security
    • Applications support
  • 5+ years in Project/Program Management and delivery, with experience leading other Project Managers
  • Strong understanding of agile project management and program governance, including expertise utilizing JIRA and Microsoft Office Suite Products
  • Strong business acumen, including strategic planning and the ability to develop and measure objectives, key results and ROI analysis  
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical and communication skills to facilitate issue resolution and drive consensus
  • Ability to thrive and deliver in a high-energy, fast paced, changing environment with a leadership presence and ability to adjust to situations that could involve conflicting goals 
  • Ability to collaborate and effectively manage a dispersed team and prioritize work 
  • Proven relationship management skills, including the ability to work with multiple executives concurrently while demonstrating strong leadership, communication, planning, negotiation, and management skills 
  • Creative and critical approach to problem solving with a humble, team-oriented, and optimistic attitude 
  • Shows Up with a Team Up and Build Up leadership presence to collaboratively drive work forward
  • Experience implementing and following organizational change management methodologies including application of ADKAR
