Job Description 

This individual will join a team of Database Engineering professionals responsible for all phases of database design, implementation, and support.  This individual’s primary focus will be project delivery (design & implementation,) along with production support of Oracle databases within a fast-paced enterprise environment.  This is a great opportunity for an individual really wanting to further their knowledge of Oracle databases.  We have a balanced mix of senior and junior DBA's that are prepared to mentor and train an individual in all aspects of Oracle database support that reside both in our own data center as well as in Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure.

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Complete platform upgrades, migrations, patching, performance monitoring
  • Provide day-to-day administrative activities, including backup, restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, & standards/process development
  • Investigate and troubleshoot database issues across multiple environments
  • Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance
  • Automate administrative procedures and/or repetitive tasks wherever possible
  • Work in conjunction with other infrastructure, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements at the database tier
  • Provide a high level of customer satisfaction via detailed communication and effective delivery of technical solutions
  • Plan, document, communicate, and execute multi-step complex changes
  • Contact vendor support for hardware and/or software problem resolution
  • Be available for rotating 24/7 on-call support

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
  • 2-3 years of Oracle Database administration in an Exadata C@C environment
  • Experience supporting 11g, 12g, and 19c Oracle RAC/ASM managed databases
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard technologies
  • Experience using RMAN to copy databases and to manage backups and restores
  • Experience with Exadata tools for upgrading and managing Oracle databases
  • Experience with automation scripting using Linux shell tools
  • Experience configuring and maintaining highly available and scalable database environments
  • Experience with SQL Server and/or DB2 database administration is a plus
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter capable of simultaneously prioritizing, and delivering on a variety of project and support activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must possess strong organization skills, including a keen attention to detail

Other Desired Skills

  • Basic understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Basic understanding of Veritas data protection related to DB platforms
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts
  • Basic understanding of networked storage concepts
