Senior Software Engineer, Product Facing Systems (Remote)

Company Description

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of applications, integrations, and services. You’ll help with the entire lifecycle right from concept stage until delivery and post-launch support. The candidate will be heavily involved in driving the technology strategy, best practices, and roadmap at Abercrombie & Fitch. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to execute and deliver associate experiences on our Product Facing Systems. Responsibilities include designing and developing software solutions; leading projects; maintaining, upgrading, and refactoring existing code; writing tests; fixing bugs; and collaborating with third-party software vendors, etc.

 

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Design, Develop & Test complex software applications in Java
  • Performance tune software as needed
  • Ensure that the software is written correctly and in compliance with latest standards
  • Provide technical assistance, problem resolution and troubleshooting support
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Work in a team environment in supporting the team goals, and improving application development and engineering practices
  • Develop code consistent with A&F standard coding practices
  • Create diagrams to show process and/or data flow
  • Collaborate with others to determine business-specific application needs
  • Compile and implement application development plans for new or existing applications
  • Collaborate with functional business leads and IT partners to provide a high level of customer service
  • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies as part of the Scrum Team
  • Work with project team to define and break down requirements
  • Create and maintain team level project documentation & wiki site
  • Create and maintain macro and micro tech designs
  • Assist Technical Leads, Scrum Master and BAs in developing Feature Plans, including advising on dependencies
  • Monitor the development of Features and the capacity of the team.  Advise on changes to squads to meet commitments
  • Work with team members, management, and product owner to ensure features and ultimately the projects are completed to standard
  • Identify risks and form contingency plans as soon as possible
  • Assist in onboarding team members
  • Stay Curious and Push Boundaries to keep up to date with industry trends and developments
  • Assist in performing troubleshooting as required across all environments (Prod & non-Prod)

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • 5+ years of experience in an application development environment
  • Java development (J2EE, message driven architecture, server side Java) and troubleshooting (Java profiling tools) skills required.
  • GitLab and SVN knowledge
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle, including analysis, design, unit test, system test, deployment, and production support.
  • Excellent communication skills, work ethic and the ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Must possess understanding of business processes and ability to solve complex problems
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication, reporting and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Great collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in the Agile Methodology and in Jira
  • Capable of coordinating with various teams and developers
  • Ability to understand and manage risks
  • Excellent facilitation and issue resolution skills; ability to drive consensus
  • Ability to work and deliver in a fast paced, changing environment
