Job Description

The Art Director supports the Creative Director in concepting and executing seasonal editorial imagery that pushes the A&F brand forward. They will collaborate with photography, styling, design, product, and strategy teams to develop and share the creative vision each season for the Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids brands.  This individual would be accountable ideating and creating original branded content, along with fostering the organization and cross-functional partnerships required to execute against the overall brand strategy.

This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.  ­

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Work closely with the Creative Director on the conceptual development and execution of seasonal editorial content
  • Concept, plan and execute all seasonal photoshoots – developing all necessary creative briefs including moodboards, casting, locations, H&MU and on-set direction
  • Manage photography edits and postproduction with retouching and design partners, guiding the team on final color and image usage across all channels
  • Collaborate with the broader creative team, including Studio AD, Social AD, Styling and Video to ensure seasonal visuals and content are synergized, telling focused brand stories and fulfilling deliverables across all channels
  • Evolve the brand handwriting for a new generation of consumers, building off existing brand foundations
  • Understand current trends in social media, fashion, and culture – testing new ideas to further develop and advance the creative voice of the A&F brands
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within the A&F/abercrombie kids organization, clearly and effectively presenting ideas and projects to cross functional partners and all levels of leadership
  • Help to implement a creative organization that supports a content-led marketing strategy
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned

What Do You Need To Bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Photography, Advertising or relevant experience required 
  • 6-8+ years of art direction experience in fashion retail or a related industry 
  • On set photoshoot experience - including directing and managing location sets
  • Experience working in an iconic, branded environment for an international organization 
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Capture One, Keynote and Mural programs
  • Experience working with layout for print and digital media with and directing, training and guiding other layout artists and copywriters 
  • A strong eye for quality and trend as it relates to the Abercrombie & Fitch brands 
  • Experience managing and collaborating with large cross-functional teams
