Senior Software Engineer, Sourcing Technology

Job Description 
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of applications, integrations, and services within our global technology space. You’ll help with the entire lifecycle right from concept stage until delivery and post-launch support. The candidate will be heavily involved in driving the technology strategy, best practices, and roadmap at Abercrombie & Fitch. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to execute and deliver associate experiences in the Sourcing & Product Development space. Responsibilities include technical leadership; mentoring other team members in designing and developing software solutions; leading projects; maintaining, upgrading, and refactoring existing code; writing tests; fixing bugs; and collaborating with third-party software vendors. 

 

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Collaborate with functional business leads and technology partners to provide a high level of customer service
  • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies as part of the Scrum Team
  • Work with project team(s) to define and break down requirements
  • Work with team members, management, and product owners to ensure projects are completed to standard
  • Implement rapid updates to fulfill changing business and marketing requirements
  • Creating technical documentation – designing architecture, flow diagrams, documenting technical implementation approaches and pseudocode
  • Create and maintain macro tech designs
  • Identify risks and form contingency plans as soon as possible
  • Work in a team environment in supporting the team goals, and improving development and engineering practices
  • Deliver across the entire software life cycle – concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to production, and support
  • Collaborate with other development teams on architectural vision and roadmap
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
  • Review, provide feedback, and approve team members’ merge requests

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Test driven development using Junit or other testing frameworks
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Automated test execution and building tools (CI/CD)
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle, including analysis, design, unit test, system test, deployment, and production support
  • Expertise in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, complex analysis, and debugging
  • 6+ years of Java/J2EE development
  • 3+ years of experience in retail technology; preferably within the sourcing space
  • Familiarity with leading PLM software(s) such as: Lectra, Centric, PTC, Bamboo Rose, etc
  • Experience with MQ (JMS), Web Services (SOAP/XML/REST/JSON), and Kafka integrations
  • Knowledge of web development, with a good understanding of the CSS and JavaScript ecosystem
  • Solid understanding of Struts, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JSP
  • Familiarity with Tomcat, TomEE, and JBoss
  • SQL query skills and knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL, or similar database management systems
  • Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker/Azure containerization
  • Familiarity with basic Linux or related platform concepts and commands
  • Experience with architecture and IT security best practices
  • Ability to rapidly learn new software and maintain competency with technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, work ethic and the ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment
  • Must possess understanding of business processes and ability to solve complex problems
  • Critical thinker with the ability to develop completely new problem-solving approaches and formulate innovative solutions
  • Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fact paced environment
  • Attention to detail and flexibility in work assignments
