Job Description
This individual will be part of a team of Database Engineering professionals responsible for all phases of database design, implementation, and support. This individual’s primary focus will be Oracle and Oracle Cloud production support and project delivery (design & implementation) across the database landscape, networking with internal customers and vendor support professionals within a fast-moving enterprise environment. In addition, the engineer will be responsible for leading forward looking strategic initiatives within the database engineering portfolio.
What Will You Be Doing?
5+ years of Oracle database administration in a large Exadata cloud at customer environment
Experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting database solutions atop OCI Experience migrating Oracle databases to OCI
Experience with Golden Gate administration in a hybrid cloud environment
Experience with MSSQL, DB2, Cosmos & Mongo database administration
Experience configuring and maintaining highly available (clustered,) and scalable database environments
Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning in a high concurrency environment
Understanding of PCI and SOX regulations and how they apply to database systems
Must be a highly motivated self-starter capable of simultaneously prioritizing, and managing a variety of complex project tasks in a fast-paced environment
Must have experience working within an agile/scrum delivery framework
Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must possess strong organization skills, including a keen attention to detail
What Do You Need To Bring?
Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
Provide day-to-day admin activities, including backup/restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, standards development and enforcement
Install, upgrade, and support, 19c Oracle RAC/Grid Infrastructure including database migrations.
Install, upgrade, and support Oracle RAC/Data Guard databases
Install, configure, manage Oracle RMAN for database backups, and recovery
Install, configure, manage Oracle OEM for database observability
Investigate and troubleshoot database issues across multiple environments
Automate administrative procedures and/or repetitive tasks wherever possible
Work in conjunction with other I&O, InfoSec, and AppDev groups to understand DB security, functionality, performance, scalability, and integration requirements
Plan, document, communicate, and execute multi-step complex changes
Actively engage vendors to assist in problem resolution
Work with Information Security to maintain PCI and SOX database requirements
Develop disaster recovery procedures and test on a periodic basis
Be available for rotating 24/7 on-call support
Other Desired Skills
- Basic understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Basic understanding of DB solutioning within a Kubernetes environment
- Basic understanding of VMware virtualization
- Experience with NetBackup data protection
- Experience with Terraform Cloud workspaces
- Experience with GIT (or similar) version control systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline tooling
- Basic understanding of network, storage, and information security concepts
- Retail experience is a plus
