Job Description 

 At Abercrombie & Fitch the Sr. Director of Digital Product Design is responsible for leading the design disciplines focused on envisioning and delivering human-centric, digitally enabled experiences throughout the ecosystem for our global brands.

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Leading multi-disciplinary design teams in partnership with digital product teams to envision and deliver digital products and services throughout the customer and employee facing ecosystem including Mobile Apps, Web, Voice, and Social platforms.
  • Building and evolving a multi-disciplinary design practice purpose-built for our organization at its current maturity/proficiency and accelerate a path to industry industry-leading capabilities.   
  • Leading all functional design disciplines within the digital product and services team, including user experience design, user interface design, design research, and design operations.
  • Conceiving, designing, and testing new digital products and service experiences, applying systems thinking to shape experiences that meaningfully enable end-users across journeys and throughout the ecosystem.
  • Identifying end-user pain points and latent needs through human-centered design research; grounding concepts in insights, business needs, established design principles, and current and emerging technologies.
  • Leading discovery, design strategy, direction, and delivery for the portfolio of digital products and services.
  • Developing and optimizing all operational practices/ DesignOps to maximize design value and impact at scale.
  • Prioritizing team resources and work; integrating team members and design activities into each cross-functional product team.
  • Effectively influencing thinking across the enterprise that push boundaries and deliver extraordinary human-centric experiences for customers and employees that serve them.
  • Applying contextual inquiry, usability, and other methods of design research and measurement to shape impactful experiences.
  • Fostering a culture of human-centered design, accessibility, and inclusion across the team and enterprise.
  • Developing, socializing, and advocating design strategies across teams, stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrating the business value of design by measuring and communicating design-driven outcomes with material benefits.
  • Facilitating design reviews and critiques; soliciting and providing constructive feedback across the spectrum of digital products.
  • Developing governance and managing global design systems and platforms to enable efficiency, speed, and consistency.

 

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • 10+ years of experience in digital design with track record of delivering new and innovative services and experiences to market.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing a multi-disciplinary design teams of 10+
  • 3+ years of retail industry experience or equivalent consumer facing domain experience.
  • BA/BS and MA/MS in design, HCI, Interaction or equivalent experience, is required
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating cross-channel expertise and skill at developing human-centric digital experiences, design research, prototyping and testing.
  • Experienced in the development of artifacts such as design principles, sketches, storyboards, scenarios, process flows, IA visualizations, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, service blueprints and design systems.
  • A strong understanding and experience working across modern methods (Design Thinking, Agile, Lean UX).
  • Demonstrated experience working within a large-scale organization that integrates experience design into a product development process.
  • Extensive experience managing design systems and implementing scalable systems across multiple channels, products, and platforms integrations e.g. Adobe Experience Manager
  • Strong proficiency in a variety of design and prototype tools such as Figma, Azure, Sketch, InVision Adobe Creative Suite and expertise of digital technologies e.g. web, Android, iOS, etc.
  • Understanding of responsive web & native application design and familiar with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS capabilities. Familiarity with WCAG 3.0 Accessibility Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
