    Job Description

    This individual will be part of a group of Systems professionals responsible for all phases of UNIX systems design, implementation, and support.  This individual’s primary focus will be production support and project delivery (design & implementation,) across the UNIX systems landscape.  In addition, the engineer will be responsible for providing support for hardware, OS, software applications, and networking to internal customers in a fast-moving enterprise environment.

      What Will You Be Doing?

      • Systems specifications design on x86 and IBM Power hardware
      • Systems configurations automation via Puppet Enterprise
      • Install, configure, and maintain AIX on IBM Power hardware
      • Install, configure, and maintain SLES and OEL on x86 hardware
      • Configure and manage monitoring tools such as Splunk and SNMP to identify problems across the systems space
      • Plan and document multi-step complex changes
      • Contact vendor support for hardware and/or software problem resolution
      • Work with Information Security to maintain PCI and SOX system requirements
      • Develop disaster recovery procedures and test on a periodic basis
      • Be available for rotating 24/7 on-call support

      What Do You Need To Bring?

      • 4+ years of UNIX administration, including SUSE, RedHat, OEL, and AIX
      • Understanding of configuration automation using Puppet (or similar) management tools
      • Understanding of Linux/AIX best practices for secure builds in a large enterprise
      • Understanding of PCI and SOX regulations and how they apply to the UNIX systems
      • Knowledge of UNIX security practices and how to implement systems without creating vulnerabilities (privileged escalation or other kinds) to internal or external users
      • Understanding of software and services lifecycle management and change process
      • Scripting (Shell, Perl or Ruby preferred)
      • Must be a highly motivated self-starter capable of simultaneously prioritizing, and managing a variety of complex project tasks and support activities in a fast paced environment
      • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
      • Must possess strong organization skills, including a keen attention to detail
      • Minimum 4-year degree required

      Other Desired Skills

      • Experience with GIT (or similar) version control systems
      • Experience with systems administration atop a vSphere infrastructure
      • Experience with systems administration atop a Cisco UCS architecture
      • Basic understanding of sudo management
      • Basic understanding of networking concepts
      • Basic understanding of networked storage concepts
      • Basic understanding of Veritas Cluster Server
