Purpose Statement:

To lead and shape the market access strategy for Gulf countries in alignment with regional and global market access priorities...” by coordinating cross-functional efforts, anticipating market and contracting challenges, and developing innovative solutions that accelerate product access, optimize pricing and reimbursement outcomes, and support affiliate business objectives across all therapeutic areas. This role strengthens collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, contributes to strategic planning and early product development insights, and builds market access capability through coaching, team development, and execution excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure alignment between Gulf market access strategy, regional priorities, and global market access direction, while contributing local market insights to broader affiliate and Intercon planning
  • Lead market access strategy and execution across all therapeutic areas, ensuring prioritization of opportunities and challenges across the full Gulf portfolio.”
  • Guide, coordinate, plan, structure and prioritize the broad area of market access capabilities to design and implement innovative market access solutions and services in Gulf whilst driving cross-functional teamwork
  • Define strategic actions in response to the evolving market environment and identify innovative solutions to accelerate AbbVie’s products across all therapeutic areas into the market while proactively maintaining and optimizing access
  • Lead cross-functional task force to bring key insights for new products (prior to phase 3) and help better tailor clinical development to ensure optimized access and price
  • Work closely with other functions such as Medical and Government Affairs to build networks, understanding and close relationships with decision makers and leverage influence through joint programs of action
  • Ensure collaboration with Region and Intercon, and maintain an awareness and understanding of the impact of local affiliate decisions on AbbVie’s global business, and help to ensure Intercon material meets the local needs
  • Anticipate and influence Contracting & Tendering situations. Lead and coordinate with other functions (e.g. in field team, KAM payers/providers, legal, finance, Intercon) to share information about Contracting & Tendering situations and oversee the establishment of solutions
  • Develop strategies for Gulf Countries to deal with Contracting & Tendering challenges in collaboration with other functions, considering the implications to broader business
  • Ensure pricing and reimbursement at national and local level is aligned to and leverage other commercial strategies to meet or exceed affiliate plan.
  • When applicable, conduct post-negotiation win/loss reviews with involvement from other functions (e.g. finance, market research)
  • Support in creating an engaging learning environment and reinforcing the access mindset to upscale the team capabilities
  • Coach & develop Gulf Market Access Managers, constantly drive for excellence and ensure proper training for MA team and support building the “MKA Excellence Academy”
  • Provide strategic contribution to the NNLRP process
  • Support MKA Director Gulf Levant in defining and implementing affiliate strategy
  • Role model AbbVie WWW behavior and enable the Brand Team matrix to work in order to achieve high-quality strategy and execution capability in all allocated brands

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent tertiary qualification in Public Health Economics is required.
  • HTA, health economics and outcomes research, or statistics experience and knowledge are required
  • Demonstrated market access experience across major therapeutic areas, preferably including immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and/or specialty care
  • Relevant experience with proven track record of success in delivering commercial results and/or being responsible for product access to market.
  • Extensive knowledge of the healthcare environment, including deep knowledge of payer and provider mechanisms, funding flows, and legislation affecting market access of pharmaceutical products.
  • Good understanding of Intercon healthcare systems to have an area-wide perspective on local affiliate decisions.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership, management and coaching of teams and individuals, and in having developed talent and performance managed low performers.
  • Ability to drive complex cross-functional collaboration to involve and to align Market Access strategy with other business strategies.
  • 10 Years of experience in a similar field
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complexity
  • Demonstrated Strategic Thinking and Innovation mindset
  • Commercial Acumen and Analytical skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Experience in Gulf Levant markets is a plus and Key TAs
  • Preferred:

  • Relevant experience working within a payer and provider organization
  • Relevant international health care environment experience.
