Job Description

As part of US Commercial organization, this role is responsible for execution of Market Access data strategies across Immunology, Neuroscience & Specialty portfolio, working in collaboration with leaders from Brand Marketing, Market Access Strategy, Digital Lab, Internal Agency, Analytics, and external partners. Support the strategic and tactical needs of Market Access organization, proactively seeking out strategic business opportunities and providing advice, assistance and leadership in areas associated with the planning, procurement, provision, delivery, management, maintenance and effective business use of payer and health system information systems. Lead a team of project managers, BSCs and BSAs to analyze business processes; elicit, analyze, and document business requirements; test and validate solution enhancements; identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility, and make recommendations typically seeking to exploit and leverage new or existing technology components.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with business unit partners to understand specific business processes, business drivers and business strategy across Market access functions; identifies and communicates resulting needs and opportunities for business process improvement that can be enabled via technology; investigates and understands capabilities of existing systems and technologies already in use across the business area and similar and interconnected business areas in AbbVie and investigates available technologies. 
  • Identifies information required to support the Market Access business strategy and leads the development of appropriate information management strategies, developing them as an integrated part of the business strategy. Identifies, proposes, initiates, and leads significant improvement programs across multiple business areas establishing requirements for the implementation of significant changes in business functions and processes, organizational roles and responsibilities and scope or nature of technology. 
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Proactively seeks out strategic business opportunities for the application of new or existing technology capabilities (across multiple Market access business areas) with high-level business unit executives providing key opinion-leading clients with comprehensive strategic analyses and insights to help them discover strategic uses of technology products and services. 
  • Establish and maintain high-quality relationships with all levels across the company and with external partners. Develop business relationships and integrate activities with Brand, Market Access, Patient services, and Finance partners to ensure successful implementation, effective communication, and support of project efforts. 
  • Responsible for review and approval of data specifications, solution architecture, process flows and data sharing with AbbVie internal Privacy, Compliance & OEC teams. Drives coordination from AbbVie side with respect to getting timely reviews and approvals from external partners.
  • Brokers services within BTS on behalf of customers; coordinates portfolio of solutions and identifies interdependencies. Allies with other BTOs to remain current on project status and inform customer management of progress; conversely, keeps BTS managers aware of user issues and resolves conflicts. Identifies the impact of any relevant statutory, internal, or external regulations on the organization's use of information. 
  • Be able to work independently with external stakeholders to manage Third Party agreements, Supplier evaluation and Compliance with AbbVie data policies and financial processes. Responsible for data contracting and working with Legal and Purchasing organizations to finalize these contracts with Data suppliers, Analytic partners, and vendor partners.
  • Has defined authority and responsibility for Market Access applications and related Payer & Health system data and vendor partnerships, including technical, financial, and quality aspects. Establishes organizational objectives and delegates assignments. Accountable for actions and decisions taken by self and subordinates.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the fit of the proposed business process improvements and the technical solution to the business needs and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made. Support training on data products owned by team. 
  • Responsible for learning best practices of market access, formulary & claims data, payer spine processing, data integration, aggregation, reporting and data quality monitoring and proposing ideas to streamline and improve existing processes and framework. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 7 years’ experience; PhD with 3 years’ experience.
  • Exercises latitude in the approach to problem solving.
  • Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than formal review by superiors.
  • Self-starter mentality with a proven implementation record of creative technology solutions that advanced business. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication and strong analytical skills. Proven ability to build trust, listen and ask effective questions. 
  • Proven track record of effective project leadership and positive results. Ability to self-manage time and priorities. 
  • Experience with Data Lake architecture, big data technologies, and tools,  
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of pharmaceutical and healthcare business and utilize the knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions  
  • Experience working with Market Access organization is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data management disciplines including Data Warehousing, Data Integration, Data Visualization, Advanced Analytics, Big Data Platforms/Elastic Scale, Artificial Intelligence, and other data centric technologies. 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with patient level data like SHA PTD, IMS APLD, and plan formulary data like MMIT.
