Job Description
Provide leadership to develop technology strategies that support business goals, owning the enterprise data platform for analytics and AI. This role will have impact and influence over more than one technology and/or business domain. Build a collaborative partnership with technology and functional domain senior leadership. Develop and guide delivery of comprehensive data platform solutions that address prioritized business problems and innovation needs. Objectives are defined in collaboration with senior domain leadership and results assess from a 2–3-year perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy and Influence: Works across multiple business and technology to make significant contributions to development of a 2–3-year strategy for the data platform – ingest, lakehouse and compute. Develops, adapts, and executes strategies to achieve key objectives.
- Process Improvement and Optimization: Makes significant contributions to identifying overall process and/or technology improvements, including MLOps / LLMOps and platform reliability, observability, and cost.
- Data Platform: Accountable for the enterprise data platform – ingest, lakehouse and compute, MLOps / LLMOps, and reliability, observability, and cost; builds scalable, highly available pipelines on hybrid cloud and manages platform spend.
- People Management: Responsible for managing a team(s) of senior managers and directors within multiple business and/or technology domains.
- Impact: Make decisions that have an effect on financial, employee and/or public relations posture of AbbVie.
- Resource Management: Responsible for making significant contributions to the development of resource management strategy and organizational structure of multiple business and/or technology domain.
- Liaison and Relationship Building: Builds collaborative relationships and effectively interacts frequently with business and/or technology senior leadership and vice presidents. Interactions focus on top priority projects and influencing strategic decisions. I interact well with diverse groups across business and technology functions and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Culture: Consistently demonstrate AbbVie’s Ways of Working and Leadership Attributes including an enterprise mindset and people leadership. Effectively manages performance, provides timely feedback, appropriately rewards and recognizes valuable achievement, develops talent, and creates a succession pipeline. Understand and execute AbbVie's vision, goals, and strategies. This role has accountability for the performance and results strategically important functions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and 12+ years of experience.
- Effectively connects employee and BTS functional goals to business and/or overall AbbVie goals.
- Proven ability to drive outstanding employee performance and engagement through developing, coaching, motivating, energizing, and inspiring team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing teams of at least 15 people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors, and managed service providers.
- Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including C-Suite.
- Thought leader in data platform engineering, lakehouse architecture, and MLOps / LLMOps across multiple technology and/or business domains.
- Experience managing a budget of at least $15 million.
- Hands-on expertise with large-scale lakehouse and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS) and data pipeline engineering.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree and work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Experience in technology operation, strategy, planning and implementation and/or relevant business domain preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
