Job Description
We are looking for an associate scientist I/II to assist in efforts aimed at addressing key biology questions within the neuropsychiatric disorders utilizing rodent behavior models to advance drug discovery. This position will perform and assist with execution and optimization in vivo behavioral assays in rodent models and support other related activities such as pharmacokinetic experiments and general in vivo efforts. The successful candidate will be a motivated, experienced, collaborative, flexible and productive individual and expected to support in vivo biology development efforts for existing early portfolio programs as well as participate in target validation for the exploratory pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute rodent behavior experiments including compound formulation, dosing and handling, behavioral testing and observations, PK sampling
- Analyze data, compile results into presentations and present at lab, project team, or department team meetings
- Maintain full compliance with animal welfare protocols including full awareness of all IACUC policies and animal use protocols
- Support other in vivo efforts (behavior, pharmacokinetics, surgeries) by providing help as needed
- Assist with study report compilation and review from internal and external experiments
- Help design studies, research new animal models and disease areas of interest
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with typically 0-3 or more years’ experience or Master’s Degree (no additional experience).
- Hands-on experience with rodent handling, dosing (SC, IP) and takedowns
- Ability and/or desire to analyze, interpret, and communicate data to teams
- Self-starter, collaborative attitude with the ability to multitask
- Team-player attitude
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Direct experience with rodent behavior assays
- Extensive rodent dosing (SC, PO, IP, IV, IM, RO) and tissue collection experience
- Familiarity with GraphPad Prism
- Ability and desire to support other in vivo efforts
