The Associate Director of Psychiatry Marketing Promotional Medical Education reports to the Director of Promotional Medical Education, External Engagement and RMM team. This role supports the development of the strategy and direction of peer-to-peer learning program to address HCP educational needs in a fast-changing, highly competitive market. It is responsible for developing innovative content and learning experiences, partnering cross-functionally with medical, marketing, field leadership, operations, compliance, finance, and sales leadership to deliver high-impact educational programming. The role also owns annual speaker training strategy, program planning, and budget management while using insights and field feedback to continuously improve speaker effectiveness and program performance. The role combines strategic leadership, execution, and collaboration to elevate the peer-to-peer experience and drive continuous improvement in a compliant, high-performing environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Help shape the strategy and direction of a high-impact peer-to-peer learning program that addresses HCP educational needs in a quicky evolving and highly competitive market.
- Lead the development of innovative content and learning experiences that bring scientific and commercial messages to life in clear, actionable ways.
- Partner cross-functionally with medical, marketing, field leadership, and operations teams to turn complex business needs into compelling educational experiences.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner, helping identify content gaps, audience needs, and opportunities to elevate speaker engagement and program effectiveness.
- Use insights, performance trends, and field feedback to continuously improve program strategy, content quality, and speaker effectiveness.
- Drive high-visibility initiatives with broad organizational impact, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution.
- Play a key role in evolving peer-to-peer programming by introducing new ideas, best practices, and scalable processes.
- Own annual speaker training strategy and execution, including training calendars, schedules, guides, facilitation, and support for speaker onboarding and pull-through.
- Leads speaker program Annual Operating Plan and effectively tracks and manages speaker program budget, highly cross-functional workstreams across Compliance, Finance and Sales Leadership as well as the Promotional Medical Education vendor.
- Contribute to a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the peer-to-peer ecosystem.
- Operates in compliance with all AbbVie internal policies (ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies) and applicable external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Proven marketing experience with increased proficiency in all marketing skills.
- Previous cross franchise/cross channel marketing experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of pharmaceutical experience including 2+ years of marketing experience is required
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to make effective presentations to internal and external customers, sales teams, and senior management
- Proven track record of leadership success with direct people leadership experience required
- Sound analytical skills, financial acumen and previous experience with budget ownership
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with focus, and drive consensus among internal and external stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and departments
- Proven project management skills and prioritization among competing business needs
- Is a self-starter, intellectually curious, and can change course rapidly where required
- Identifies problems proactively and conceptualize solutions using creativity and innovation
- Is open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement, embraces ideas from others, encourages innovation but is grounded in reality
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting pharmaceutical products
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, attending national conferences, sales and marketing meetings and field visits
- A potential pharmaceutical leader who is excellence focused, optimistic, open and authentic
