Job Description

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist I to join the Analytical Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for routine testing along with analytical method development/optimization for characterization of our LNPs/tLNPs along with its individual components. This role requires a strong attention to detail with a quantitative/analytical mindset and drive to tackle complex problems in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analysis and contribute to development/optimization of methods under supervisor guidance to support characterization of LNPs/tLNPs and subcomponents.
  • Use aseptic techniques to culture mammalian cells, including tumor cell lines, T cells, and PBMCs.
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Discuss methods/data in team meetings. Actively contribute to improving team operations, analytical procedures, methods, SOPs, etc.
  • Support analytical lab operations through equipment maintenance, organizing and maintaining inventory, aliquoting and labeling, and other tasks, as needed.
  • Maintain detailed and comprehensive documentation and electronic lab notebook (ELN) entries for all performed experiments and assays.
  • Prepare data reports and presentations, as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures/guidelines, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biology, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering or other related field with 0-3 years industry experience.
  • Prior experience with plate-based assays, ELISA, gel electrophoresis and/or PCR-based assays is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with cell culture aseptic techniques
  • Highly adaptive and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Must be detail oriented with demonstrated ability in problem solving and organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime (as needed) required
  • Level will be dependent on candidate qualifications
