Job Description
Senior Engineer, Process Safety
The ideal candidate will have solid technical and scientific background and/or pharmaceutical plant experience. Also he/she will have the capability to manage significant programs and determine adherence to timelines as well as influencing EHS culture across the network. Partnering and influencing senior leaders is an absolute key leadership attribute for the role.
Responsibilities
- Represents MES Process Safety & Design on assigned Tech Transfer or Capital Project. Provide input for Requests for Capital Expenditure (RCE) to ensure that significant Process Safety aspects are properly integrated during the entire Front-End Planning Design Process for new product introduction, Product-transfer from site to site, site to Third Party Manufacturing (TPM), TPM to site and changes/upgrades to existing processes and equipment.
- Fully Lead the EHS Hazard Screening for Tech transfer and NPI
- Conduct on site audit, to ensure that on key EHS Technical programs, site comply with applicable Process Safety requirements and corporate policies, utilize best-industrial practices and best available techniques to identify and manage risk, and conform to company directives and standards.
- Complete and reviews process safety incident investigation and risk assessment screening for management of change.
- Identify and collect process safety metrics, develop site dashboard for key program, monitors EHS improvement of assigned processes.
- Champion a culture of Process Safety excellence
- Key Programs include: Technical Transfers (TT) and New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Capital Projects, EHS Change Management, Process Safety Management, Hazard identification and Risk Assessment: Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Layer of Protection Assessment (LoPA), Inert Gas, Atex Area Classification, and chemical safety.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or science with 5-7 years applicable experience
- Demonstrated experience in EHS systems is required.
- Training or experience with PHA an advantage
- Working experience as EHS Manager in a chemical or pharmaceutical setting is preferred.
- Experience working within a regulatory environment is required.
- Fluent English & Italian or German is preferred
- Proven track record of influencing cultural change is required.
- Positive track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal, external clients and customers. Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with peers, and customers, is required. Ability to influence, motivate and empathize with peers, supervisors, middle management and vendors to meet the set goals.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, communication skills including English, excellent interpersonal and consulting skills, good organizational and computer skills, and positive customer orientation.
- Self-starter with ability to complete work independently as well as successfully lead others if needed.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
